Gridley Short Sale

Chicagomag.com reports that the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Gridley House in Batavia, IL sold this last November as a short sale (less than was owed on the mortgage) for $850,000. The sellers had paid $980,000 for the house in 2004 and listed it in January 2009 at $1.575 million. Ironically, the original owner, Mrs. A.W. Gridley had to sell the house over 100 years ago to a windmill manufacturer because of financial difficulties after living there...
