Centuries-old stable is converted into a self-sustaining dream home

Perched on a mountain in the north of Ibiza, the white modern home retains traces of the original stable including the ‘sabina beams’ and ancient stonewalls. Since the stable was seriously deteriorated, the architects could only salvage the walls and parts of the roof. To respect the local vernacular, only materials with a history of use on the island were added to the redesign, such as the iroko window frames and white chalk-plastered stonewalls.
