A new flooring option from Dutch company Bolefloor (named after the bole, or the trunk of the tree): the first manufactured hardwood flooring to honor the natural curve of its original form, the growth pattern of a tree. While the concept may sound potentially disorienting, the undulating connections between the planks are understated. And beyond the aesthetic appeal, there's an environmental bonus: utilizing surface area more efficiently allows for more floors per forest. What's more, the curvature of the wood is well suited to environments with inconsistent temperatures.  Bolefloor has showrooms across Europe and is becoming increasingly available in the US. What's more, the company reports that shipping costs to the US, including freight and duty, are no more expensive than in Europe. Read on for more details, and visit  Bolefloor  for ordering information. Above: Floorboards run 3,000 mm in length with widths of 150 to 300 mm (allowing for slight variation); for specially engineered orders, production can accommodate up to 6,000 mm lengths and 450 mm widths. Above: All Bolefloors are tongue and groove and are ready to install; contact a Bolefloor representative for information on trained installation teams. Above: Floors are available in oak, ash, maple, cherry, and walnut and in unfinished, oiled, or brushed (for an aged look) finishes. Above:  Unfinished parquet should be lightly sanded after installation and then treated with a special floor oil or lacquer. Prefinished Bolefloors are available in  WOCA Denmark oils  and Osmo Hardwax finishes. Above: The company ensures that "no two Bolefloors are alike."
