When you think of luxury homes, you might picture something along the lines of an energy-hogging, three-story mega mansion, decked out with a fancy facade and lavishly landscaped lawn. But Maziar Behrooz, founder of of MB Architecture, turned that idea on its head with his design of this beautiful arced home in East Hampton, New York. The home measures 6,400 square feet, but you would never guess it looking at the structure’s facade. Behrooz buried more than half of the home underground, giving way to a simple, unassuming aesthetic that takes advantage of below-ground cooling. The result is a modern home that uses 1/5 the energy of a traditional structure of the same size.
