Stacey Lee Webber finds the importance of loose change in her innovative projects “The Craftsmen Series” and the “The Craftsmen Series: Silver Collection.” Webber brings new value to the pennies we overlook on a day to day basis as she molds American coins into basic instruments. The Craftsmen Series highlights how American pennies are often discarded or rarely used in currency. She celebrates the ignored copper by not only its object, but by what it was made from in how she recreates it into a working man’s tools. The Silver Collection was inspired by the act of coin collecting in which she uses rare change to create objects that are more precious and desired.
