The skies may be gray in the Netherlands, but the textiles are bright (is there a correlation?). Cult designer Mae Engelgeer specializes in sharp graphic patterns paired with shocking color. Where does she get her inspiration? "Vintage scarves, wrapping paper, the culture of Amsterdam." Engelgeer studied Applied Arts at the Sandberg Instituut and sells her work at concept and design stores in the Netherlands, London (at Couverture, on of our favorite housewares stores), and online. To see more of her work, go to Studio Mae Engelgeer . Above: Woww Collection Tea Towel ; €19 at Couverture. Above: Dutch Optical Plaid Throw ; €499 at Couverture. Above: Fest Collection Stola Throw ; €269 at Couverture. N.B. Planning a trip to Amsterdam? Have a look at our City Guides to see other points of interest in Amsterdam .
