Dating back to the 16th century, Huberhaus is a traditional alpine log dwelling located in the Upper Valais, an area noted for its skiing and mountain scenery (the Matterhorn included). This rustic house sat empty for 70 years before it was renovated; the owners preserved the original wood walls and floors and added modern touches (a state of the art kitchen, for instance). For more information, go to Urlaubsarchitektur, which also offers other architecturally worthy homes to rent in Europe.
