Multi-disciplinary Dutch architect and designer Piet Boon began his career as a craftsman, and his understanding and appreciation of materials is evident throughout his work. His latest book, . Piet Boon 3 , is a look at his recent projects from around the globe, from South Africa to the Caribbean to Korea. And while his work may be global, his commitment to functionality and craftsmanship is clear throughout. Our favorite project in the book is in his native Netherlands, a houseboat that is at once grand and simple in design. Piet Boon 3 is available for $91 from Amazon. Photography by Richard Powers .
