In my former life as a floral designer, I often created arrangements using ornamental brassicas (cabbages), but I hadn't considered seasonal garden vegetables until now. Inspired by the vegetable table decor in Monday’s Steal This Look: Babel Restaurant in Cape Town , I created this potager centerpiece using a mix of ornamental cabbage and garlic blossoms purchased from my local florist. I then rounded out the arrangement with kale leaves, watermelon radishes, and heirloom artichokes gathered from Whole Foods . Above: The potager bouquet—ideal for the Thanksgiving table. Above: Using a low glass vase, I created a solid foundation with five stems of ornamental cabbage and garlic blossoms, then layered the kale leaves, watermelon radishes, and heirloom artichokes throughout the bouquet. Above: Watermelon radishes and artichokes sliced in half evoke images of botanical illustrations.
