Design savvy and mud-fearing, but fantasize about living in a barn? Here's a way to indulge that fantasy without committing; well, at least not for more than a few nights. Located in Twente, a town in the rural eastern Netherlands, Droste's Boerderijlodges combines the rustic charm of abandoned farm buildings with a pared-down modern design (a friendly farm animal or two included). Above: A pair of bunk beds has been tucked under the stairs. Above: Family accommodations include cooking and living quarters.
