The Graycliff Conservancy announces the last in a series of four lectures on the "American Spirit of Landscape." It will be a lecture by Marion Pressley, a landscape historian, author, and preservationist will take place on Wednesday, October 17th at 7 pm in the auditorium of the Burchfield-Penney Art Center at 1300 Elmwood Ave in Buffalo, NY. "Pressley Associates is responsible for the Cultural Landscape Report Part II for the Graycliff Estate, and for drawings and implementation. This lecture will focus on the continuum of landscape design, and layers created by various designers, as at Graycliff with Frank Lloyd Wright and Ellen Biddle Shipman.
 
Marion Pressley is an award-winning landscape architect.  Restoration projects by her firm, Pressley Associates, Inc., in Boston, MA, have included Brewer Fountain Plaza and Park Restoration, Boston, MA; barrier-free Access Plans for Philip Johnson’s Glass House Estate, New Canaan, CT; Emerald Necklace Parks Master Plan and implemented phases 1986-2012, Boston and Brookline, MA.  Pressley Associates has also created Cultural Landscape Reports for Beatrix Farrand’s Garland Farm, Bar Harbor, ME; Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum, New Bedford, MA; Washington Square, Philadelphia, PA; and Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, Cornish, NH.  Pressley and her team also prepared plans, drawings and/or provided design services for Woodlawn Cemetery Bronx, NY; Point State Park , Pittsburgh, PA; Shore (Belt) Parkway,  Brooklyn, NY; Chestnut Hill Reservation, Boston, MA; Allegheny Commons, Pittsburgh, PA.
 
Pressley received a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University, and a Bachelors in Landscape Architecture from Syracuse University.  She is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects , and has won numerous awards for her work.
 
The lecture series is presented with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and with the cooperation of the Burchfield-Penney Art Center, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks, the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, The Elmwood Village Association, UB's Gender Institute and the Richardson Restoration Corporation.
