The Parachuter Bag recalls a bygone era, a time when you'd travel by steam ship accompanied by leather trunks. Furniture designer Garvan de Bruir, inspired by traditional saddle-making, was trying his hand at making leather chairs without seams when he embarked on a “personal and total immersion into leather." His experiments begat the innovative Parachuter Bag (not to mention de Bruir's company, Aviation Luggage). The bag is sized to meet airlines' carry-on restrictions. View de Bruir at work in his studio in a video as he displays his facility at traditional leather stitching. Above: The Parachuter Bag is made from bridle leather, which gets softer and achieves a patina with age; prices range from €525 to €560. Above: The Parachuter Bag has a concave shape, which allows it to function as a backpack.
