Photography at Taliesin Workshop
August  3 & 4, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Appropriate for both beginning and experienced photographers, this workshop will cover the fundamentals of digital photography. Mornings will be dedicated to lecture/demos and afternoons will be spent photographing the exteriors of Taliesin. Progress will be assessed through group discussion and instructor feedback. Participants are required to arrive with a digital camera (point and shoot or DSLR). Bringing a tripod is optional but encouraged. Jim Wildeman has 30 years’ experience as a professional photographer and is currently on the faculty of Madison Area Technical College. Comfortable walking attire is suggested. $200 per person (includes lunch). Registration required.

Nature Patterns Workshop
August  24 & 25, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Using a method developed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and later by his secretary and artist Gene Masselink, Taliesin faculty member Aris Georges has developed the Nature Patterns workshop as a short version of the full course he teaches at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. Nature Patterns is a fun exercise in geometric abstraction and pattern-making by using nature as a reference. The exercise uses geometry as the visual language to generate pattern, and is accomplished in distinct steps, yielding both an interesting process and a finished piece. While the product will be a drawing, the designs generated may be applied afterwards to other media, depending on the artist. $200 per person (includes lunch). Registration required.
