Shigeru Ban has won a competition to design the new Mount Fuji World Heritage Center in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture. Conceived as an inverted pyramid, the $23.5 million building evokes the image of Japan’s most iconic landmark in its reflection in a large water basin. The competition for the 46,000 square foot building was commissioned after Mount Fuji was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site last year.
