Spotted on Dezeen: a sheep shearer's cottage in Australia by John Wardle Architects , sited on a scenic slope overlooking the rolling fields and featuring interiors clad in recycled apple boxes. The residence houses shearers, and family and friends on annual tree planting weekends and retreats. Above: The shearers quarters is a companion building to an existing cottage on a working farm. Above: The interiors are clad in Pinus Macrocarpa wood. Above: A detail of the shelving system. Above: Custom raw steel shelving holds books and fireplace logs. Above: The oversize windows overlook the undulating landscape. Above: The bedrooms are lined in recycled apple box crates from the 1960s, sourced from orchards of the Huon Valley orchards. Above: A second bedroom is also lined in recycled apple box crates. Above: Interiors are defined by the wood paneling. Above: A detail of the screen door. Above: A side view of the cottage.
