Responding musically to a work of architecture and its setting is a welcome opportunity to explore the relation of the two arts, a relationship Wright, himself, considered very important. Music and Taliesin have proceeded together for a century. Using concepts such as context, pattern, and texture, Skidmore has composed a six-movement piece for Third Coast Percussion, a quartet of young, talented musicians of which he is a part. Special thanks to Sidney Robinson, who commissioned the work.

The premiere of the piece will be in the Hillside Theater on the Taliesin Estate, Friday, September 23, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. There will be a post-concert discussion with refreshments. $30 advance/$35 at the door, space permitting. Space is limited, so advance registration is strongly recommended. For tickets, and/or more information about this event, visit their website.

Third Coast Percussion is a Chicago-based ensemble that has gained national recognition for their energy and modern twist on classical chamber music. These passionate musicians hold degrees in music performance from Northwestern University, the Yale School of Music, the New England Conservatory, and Rutgers University.
