This week, the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy will be holding its annual conference in Grand Rapids, MI--and PrairieMod will be there! As a pre-conference treat, we swung through Okemos, MI to see the four Wright-designed homes found there. More after the jump...

Okemos, Michigan was originally going to be the site of Frank Lloyd Wright's first community of "Usonian" homes. However, thanks to short-sighted lenders and the lack of faith in anything unconventional, the group of original clients were never able to get the planned community funded.

Thankfully, at least 4 homes were eventually built by various Okemos clients over the last decades of Wright's life and they can be seen (more or less) from the public street to this day.

This custom mailbox for the Brauner House was pretty sweet to see as well--a perfect concrete block, wood board, and copper companion to the main home.

Be sure to tune in for the daily wrap-ups from Grand Rapids to see more cool stuff from this year's FLWBC conference!
