Chicago Magazine caught up with former Illinois Governer Jim R. Thompson to get his opinion on the recent big ticket expenditures for the state capitol building's $50 million renovation of the Capitol’s west wing. Most pols are running away from the expenses, but Jim remembers when overseeing the purchase of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Susan Lawrence Dana House in Springfield was criticized.
