HGTV Green Home is a sustainable home  located in Serenbe, Georgia, designed by  Kemp Hall Studio and built by FrontPorch Builders. It is projected to achieve EarthCraft and LEED Certifications. HGTV Green Home is a sustainable home  located in Serenbe, Georgia, designed by  Kemp Hall Studio and built by FrontPorch Builders. It is projected to achieve EarthCraft and LEED Certifications. The home takes place in the same area of 1,000-acre sustainable development near Atlanta with green homes, shops, and restaurants.

This sustainable architecture building consists of three levels, including  three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and a detached garage and carport. To create a modern farmhouse feel of this house, the exterior uses a combination of weathered sandstone and fiber cement. Outdoor activity space are also provided.

This eco construction is supported also by several sustainable features. It has 2×6 framing with R20 wall insulation and a reflective Energy Star roof made of Galvalume. This, supported also with insulation made from combination of Icynene spray foam and Johns Manville Spider fiberglass loose fill, will provide good protection for the house from energy loses. The Andersen 400 Series are chosen as windows, supported with SunSmart glass. Several sustainable materials were also involved, such as recycled-content Shaw Floors, no-VOC Sherwin-Williams paints, Moen 90-Degree series faucets and accessories, Energy Star appliances, and TREX decking.

The sustainable home was designed to be powered  by alternative energy of 1.35 kW photovoltaic panels. For the water source, it will be supplied by the blackwater treatment system in the area, which will be used for toilets. With all of these great features, it should can achieve LEED certification and  EarthCraft.
