The Lampe Plaffonier is more like a sculpture than a lamp: a "living tension between balance and movement, momentum and meditation." Spotted at La Galerie Vegetale (a Remodelista favorite; see Shopper's Diary: La Galerie Vegetale in Paris ), the fixture is literally a balancing act: three frosted glass lights are counterweighted by two solid steel spheres, keeping a black hammered-steel branch level. Above: The Lampe Plaffonier measures four-and-a-half feet long and is available for €459 from La Galerie Vegetale. Above: The three frosted globes are hand-blown glass.
