BIG unveils green-roofed master plan for Pittsburgh’s Lower Hill district

The master plan follows the sloping topography of the site and introduces a green network that references the city's historic downtown. Individual buildings are bounded by a network of paths and triangular plazas, with terraced sloping roofs and varying building volumes taking advantage of the steep slope. Granite outcroppings puncture the public spaces designed by West 8, which facilitate an efficient flow of pedestrians, bikes, public transportation and cars.
