Currently, the Stamford Bridge stadium, which was built in 1876, holds 41,837-seats, but the new addition will see capacity increased by more than 18,000. Working with London-based Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Herzog & de Meuron will revamp the structure into a "contemporary sculpted form" through a major brick and steel addition.
