Jensen was an early Chicago parks superintendent responsible for the design of several parks on the city’s west side, including Garfield and Humboldt parks. He also had much in common with Chicago’s Prairie school architects who recognized the importance the natural Midwest landscape.

Chicago Park District Historian and Preservationist Julia Bachrach will discuss these early 20th century design innovators in "Jens Jensen and the Prairie School," 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Auditorium of Gordon Parks Arts Hall, University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, 5815 S. Kimbark Ave., Chicago.

Admission is $10 and free for Frank Lloyd Wright Trust members, volunteers and Illinois educators. For more information, visit here.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust Community Enrichment Series explores Frank Lloyd Wright’s early career, his relationships with his contemporaries and the influences that shaped his visionary design philosophy. The series brings an expansive interpretation to Wright’s work, considering it within the context of the city that was his home for the first 20 years of his career.
