We are all overwhelmed with the notion that the only beauty seen in the creative process is in its final stage of perfection. But the brand Content & Container glorifies the unknown charm of imperfections in their three new wonderful collections that were featured in the IMM Cologne International Furnishing Show for 2012. The Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi (an aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience) inspired the team to celebrate the allure of the seemingly obscure hidden under the surface of ordinary objects.

Their Dockerbag collection is influenced by the modernization process of old ports consists of leather bags that were cloaked in a canvas covering with a handle that imitates the handle of a porcelain coffee pot – a symbol for modern life in the harbor. Traces is a series of teapots and cups that was carved then molded by hand into wood before being cased in black porcelain. The marks left behind during the development process determine how the porcelain objects show its aesthetics and ability to generate emotions. The Imperfect Perfect collection supports the idea that objects are only close to perfection during their transitory state. These ceramics were made mostly from porcelain where they were embedded with the rough surfaces and imperfections of the initial process.
