Holly Jolly Aluminum.

It's the holly-daze. A time for over-eating and over-spending. In all the hustle and bustle, if you close your eyes and let go, you're transported to a simpler time. A time when there was actually magic in the season. I want to take you back to that place with a ride on my aluminum pom-pom tree (not a euphemism).

On a recent scouting trip in Cincinnati, I procured a 7ft "Evergleam" aluminum Christmas tree manufactured by Aluminum Specialty Co. (Manitowoc, Wisconsin). Sweetening the deal was a Westinghouse "Colortone Roto-Wheel". Sold as a set, both were in their original boxes and in minty-mint condition.

Like a kid on, well, Christmas, I got to work assembling all the bits. Then sat back in wild wonder.

Topping the Evergleam is a Charley Harper ornament. Sitting proud.

Minimalistic ornamentation is limited to about a dozen starbursts from Target.

Aluminum Christmas trees aren't just for Christmas. Several of my Mid Century Modern Hanukkah-celebrating friends have them too, and affectionately call them "Hanukkah Bushes". The holidays are an all-inclusive love-fest of celebration.

For more on aluminum Christmas trees (or Hanukkah bushes), check out Aluminum Christmas Trees dot Net.

Now get in the game:

Post pics of your Mid Century Modern holiday decor to the Atomic Indy Facebook Page. A random winner will be chosen, and an MCM goodie will be sent to put under your tree.

Happy baby Jesus, and Eternal Flame day(s) to you all. And to all, a good Evergleamed night.

Cheers,

-Baz
