Adding a splash of color to the backsplash

One other interior project that Jeff and I took on ourselves was the kitchen backsplash – actually, I can’t take any credit for this project, it was all Jeff. We saved a lot of money, but didn’t lose the quality or the “aha” factor by using LED lighting and polycarbonate behind the stovetop. Jeff installed a color-changing LED light on the countertop behind the stovetop, then hung a clear piece of polycarbonate in front of it. The LED light is plugged into the socket inside the closet on the other side of the kitchen wall and no one sees the cord.
This backsplash allows us some variety for different occasions. By using a little remote control, we can keep the back splash one of a rainbow of colors, or set the backsplash to automatically rotate through the colors on a timer setting. Thank you Jackie Millea from Shelter for this clever idea!
Note: We found it’s difficult to find stores locally that sell LED lights, but you can purchase them online. Here is a site where we purchased our light system. Check it out if you are searching for LED lights http://www.theledlight.com/
