DIY yourself a Mid Century Modern planter.

As you begin renovating a house, or collecting Mid Century Modern goodies, you soon realize some things come with what appear to be arbitrarily high prices. Mid Century Modern Planters fall squarely into this category. Take for example the above image. What you see ranges from $145 to $1,220. For a planter. You put plants in it. Then you water them. The end.

That said, I am guilty of owning several pricey planters. But I'm made innocent by the trading, bartering and auction bidding I've done to procure them at very reasonable prices.

What if you want a cool abode for your Yucca to root in but don't want to burn a bunch of cash in the process? I'm here to help.

While perusing Target I came upon their 2011 spring line of colorful plastic planters.

In the store, I began removing assorted planters from the shelf and exploring various configurations. Several inquiries of "Um. Sir? Do you need any help?" were quickly dismissed. I soon realized that two planters turned butt-to-butt (bottom one upside down, top one right side up) make a really sweet modern planter.

They come in different sizes and colors, so you can play. The best part is the price. The big ones are $6.00 ea. The little ones are $3.00 ea. So for $6 - $12 your Yucca can revel in its modern glory.
