We went to IKEA yesterday to order our kitchen. Originally we were planning on going once the house was closed up but I had read that our cabinet style we wanted was going away and so we decided to go earlier. And lucky we did!

We arrived at the kitchen area after a round of Swedish meatballs and lingonberry juice we took a quick glance around and then headed over to the design area. I saw our cabinet door style we wanted, Kalsebo, and was advertised 50% off! Usually this is a good thing but in this case not so good. 50% off meaning we’re trying to get rid of it and we’re nearing the end of what we have left.

So we started the program and a lady walked over if we needed any help. I asked about the cabinet doors and she basically told us “good luck” and suggested we find our second favorite. My wife was extremely bummed about this but in the end we decided on a new door style that they introduced. Bad news with this is that it was a more expensive line (of course).

We finalized the design and a new lady stopped over and we told her we couldn’t find the new doors in the design software and she said she’d try and see what they had left in the Kalsebo that we originally wanted. After a dozen or so questions I had no idea about she said for us to come back in about an hour and she’d have a quote and next steps for us.

We came back and she said she was able find everything but a few minor pieces in the Kalsebo! Awesome! Better yet, since they were 50% off we saved quite a bit which was an added surprise.

So we don’t have the cabinets yet but should in a few weeks, which isn’t so good since I need to find a place to put them in the meantime.
