While familia tres_arboles enjoys spring, as it heralds the beginning of baseball season for our Joven tres_arboles, this spring is burdened by a shadow looming over Seattle. That shadow is cast by the goings on with our hometown National Basketball Association team. And despite the machinations, lies, and intrigue surrounding the carpetbagging of the Seattle Supersonics by a bunch of dopes posing as international men of commerce, I have chosen to avoid blogging the story. tres_arboles is, at the very least, a lifestyle maven and I'd rather focus on the better things in life.

Forthwith, here are some baseball shots from a recent weather-fest, shot Saturday afternoon last weekend. Joven tres_arboles caught the first three innings, then came in to pitch the last three in relief. He struck out seven batters, allowing no runs, and preserved a rare win for the mighty Tacos.

On the day, we had snow, hail, thundershowers, a freshening breeze, and even a warming sun for just a few minutes. I don't know about where you live, but we've seen some f&cked-up weather here this spring. One moment of little league parent hilarity occured when our team chose to throw on the hoodies. The opposing team's scorekeeper complained that she couldn't see our uniform numbers, as though the kids were purposefully batting out of order and hiding the fact. These parents never fails to amuse me.

Oh well, enjoy the (other) parents shivering, dedicated, and supportive. But most of all, enjoy the grit of a little kid playing big.

By the way, in case you don't habla the espanol, "joven" is the same as young, youthful, or in this case, "the kid."
