Isaac and I headed to Arcosanti last weekend for a little relaxation, inspiration and check out their architectural (or urban planning) experiment.

We were pretty blown away: at times it feels like being on a different planet.

this is the dining room/communal room where we ate our meals.

Arcosanti is known for it’s metal and ceramic bells. My parents have a metal bell from when they visit Cosanti in the late seventies. And now we have one too.

a lot of the buildings were made with silt casting, and incorporate bright colors that were put on top of the silt and then the concrete was poured over it. Then, when the silt was removed, the pigment was in the concrete. really simple and really cool.

our friend Mo was living at Arcosanti while we were there, and she took us on a personal, behind the scenes tour of life at Arcosanti. Those pictures soon.
