Ah, home sweet home. Well, for now, that is. Whether you recently graduated from college, are moving in with your partner , or are renewing your lease, there's a good chance you're living in a rental apartment. Studies show more people are renting than at any point in the past 50 years . We'll let that sink in. Sure, there are a lot of perks to living in a rental. You don't have to worry about HOA fees or oversee major renovations, plus your monthly rent is likely a lot less than a mortgage. The downside? A lack of design freedom. You see, most rentals come with a lot of rules. No new coats of paint, no holes in the walls, and you definitely can't tear down that superfluous wall to create an open-concept floor plan. After a couple months—or years—of living in the same place with the same restrictions, your eye for design can easily be stunted. But what if we were to tell you it didn't have to be that way? That there are ways to spice up your space without losing your security deposit? Here, 10 expert-approved ways to elevate your rental apartment: READ MORE »

When he first moved in, the layout was completely different. "It was very traditional, by Parisian standards. All of the rooms were closed off. The kitchen used to be a bedroom. The current shower room used to be a tiny kitchen. It didn't have an oven and it felt very isolated whenever I would have people over because you had to walk through the corridor to get to it." Right now in home design and even fashion, it feels like a total '70s takeover. Some might argue that the '90s are going strong, too. But the '90s were the first real throwback to the '70s, so there you go. Let's first focus on the more natural side of things here though, because those are the trends coming on strong right now in the home world for the most part. READ MORE »

Regardless of whether or not a celeb took home a trophy (or an engagement ring !) from last night's Emmy Awards (ICYMI: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won five), they certainly did not leave empty-handed. The Emmy swag bag is one of the pros to being a presenter or nominee at the awards show, with products and vacations that are attention-worthy. In 2016 , there was the $1,000 plastic surgery gift certificate and a trip the Belmond La Samanna in St. Martin. In 2017 , an Infinity Membership and free vacation from the Exclusive Traveler Club was in the mix. And compared to past gift bags, this year definitely did not disappoint. From a 3-night stay at a luxury safari experience to high-quality luggage to pack your things for the trip, no nominees are without a win. READ MORE »
