Installing a sound system in your garden office

by noreply@blogger.com (Alex) from Shedworking  (other blog) — 03-12-2010 07:31

Dominic Jones, Head of User Experience at Liverpool Direct Limited and garden office blogger at One Grand Designs has a great post about installing a sound system in his shed (pictured above). He's based the setup around Apple Express so he can stream music to his new Acoustic Energy Aego -M 2.1 speakers in his garden office. Here's what he says: "These puppies are VERY powerful – way more so than the Kenwood Amp of my teens, yet also clear, pin sharp and unobtrusive. I’ve spent the evening in the shed just listening to music – and the Kingspan insulation seems to work a treat for sound as well – nobody seems to be particularly bothered by my booming shed… Rock on!" Well worth a read. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday posts are sponsored by Extraspace, the flat-packed, man-portable expandable garden building experts. One of my new years resolutions was to do a little more thrifting. I found a little old house turned antique shop, knowing full well it was not my flavor I took my chances. As I rounded a corner there he was George Washington with his little smirk. I thought it was a pretty cool [...]

This project involved modernizing a boxy 1940s stucco house. The original house was a series of small, dark rooms with a completely unfinished ground floor and little connection to the outdoors. Working within the existing envelope, the living space was [...]

If you want to know Frank Gehry back then.  This links to an excellent vintage interview. On California: FOG I don’t know how long we can still call it a “frontier” in terms of the USA. I don’t think it is as much now anymore that it used to be. It [...]

I don’t think anyone will ever doubt that the designers at droog think outside the box. Certainly Hector Serrano did when he came up with Clothes Hanger Lamp – so simple, but incredibly intriguing.  A bright white shirt lit up in you closet. Granted this would not work in the scary closets of my children [...]

Do you know of an interesting blog?

I like to think that our blog is interesting! My husband and I are building a modern, green house in northern Vermont. We don't begin construction until next spring but have already started blogging our research into materials, fixtures, etc. as well as the overall design for the home. You can check us out at: www.greenhousevt.blogspot.com

Thanks!
