A group of friends and I created our own holiday version of the Marshmallow Challenge (an interesting activity started by Autodesk fellow Tom Wujec). Two teams using traditional edible gingerbread ingredients and great wine (ok, we just drank the wine – it was not used in the actual structure) had 30 minutes to try to build the tallest gingerbread tower. It turned out to be a great team experiment and fun to think about structural properties of candy (especially if you look at melting and freezing parts to increase their structural connections.) Oh, what we could have done with 5 more minutes. And maybe some more chewing gum.

Holiday party for design geeks? Maybe.
Super fun? Definitely.
