Given recent events, it seems clarification is needed. Following the keynote talk I gave at the West Coast Green conference, a number of people approached me and made comments that clearly assumed that I worked for or had some formal affiliation with Blu Homes. I have no affiliation with Blu Homes. Blu Homes did buy certain designs from my previous company along with, among other things, the trademark MKdesign, but there is no ongoing relationship. While they are using the same names (i.e. “Glidehouse”) and the photographs of the original homes that I did design, I did not design the homes that they are now offering. The only way to have a home designed by me is to work with me and my new company, Michelle Kaufmann Studio or Studio 101 Designs. I believe the untrue assumption was exacerbated by Blu Homes leaving promotional material on the seats of audience members at my talk (a right to promote usually reserved to the speaker only) with the name on it of my old company “MKdesign.” Hence, the postcard on the chair inviting audience members to come to an event sponsored by Blu Homes likely appeared to be an invitation from me as well since I was the speaker.

If you have any interest in working with Michelle Kaufmann Studio, please contact us. We would love to hear from you.
