May 13th: A few photos I took as the roof decking was being placed.

We're getting a better idea of the scale of the space and it's definitely starting to acquire a personality instead of being just walls and sky. It's very tall in there! Looking north into the shop and the media room upstairs. The master bedroom doorway on the left, kitchen/pantry/master bath areas beyond and gym and door out to the lower roof deck above. The southeast corner windows:

It's really spacious. Congratulations, I just looked through your old entries; you sure have made a lot of progress.

I'm starting to fall in love with this house

Splatgirl : I think I'm starting to fall in love with this house, I can only imagine how you feel. Progress is looking great. I've had my heart set on Greg's Cube house - But I just can't seem to find a place to put it ! it seems to be a little tall for the zoning areas where I live. Did you mention in any of your prior posts where your plans came from? The reason I ask is that we were planning of building with ICF as well (quadlock - and EcoBlock are both available locally)... we're still more than a year away from starting anything. but it would be nice to settle on a design before get there.

anyhoooo... sorry for boring everyone - your progress and dedication on the project is amazing - I doubt you would of received this level of service with a unknown GC.

I'm eagerly awaiting updates, keep up the good work.

Wow. thanks. I know I've complained a lot and gotten more than a few headaches, but I'm really enjoying the whole process. It's not a house for everyone, to be sure, but I think it gives us a palette to do some really cool stuff and will be flexible and functional. Here's a link to a post with my original floorplan sketches and some ICF stuff: http://www.livemodern.com/Members/splatgirl/blog/ICF/blogentry_view and more about the design and process: http://www.livemodern.com/Members/splatgirl/blog/01042005/blogentry_view

I was looking through all of the stuff I bookmarked back when we were just getting started and interestingly, Greg's site is the first one I've got in the "architecture/architects" file. Maybe it's our shared affection for a somewhat industrial asthetic. Greg??

Greg is cool!

...I think we do share a design "taste" - the way your house is turning out has a LOT of elements that I picture in my mind's eye when I envision our house. (did that make any sense?)

cool interior

The inside of the house looks most like the all metal version of the Steel Case House because it has the bar joists and metal deck for the ceiling.
