Despite the intermittent rain, finally able to get the foundation for the first floor down.

These will be the bedrooms: the master in the far corner to the back in the picture and kid's bedrooms towards the bottom edge of the picture.  There are two bathrooms in between the master and the first kid room.  Long hallway parallel to the side where the rebar is poking up into the air. Oh, and my favorite, washer/dryer will be along the hallway (kind of center of the picture). So you know what that means: no more hauling of the laundry all over the house. (Anyone with kids know fast it adds up)

The only thing about the concrete is that it was getting late in the day by the time they poured it and the finish on the kids rooms end is rough, especially when compared to the master bedroom end. We might try acid-etching (is that what it's called?) to make it all smooth. Eventually, seal in the concrete and be done with it.

Yesterday they've poured the retaining wall on the south side of the house (along the side with the orange-graffiti'd dirt) and on Saturday, they'll be removing the formboards.

I don't quite get the format of LiveModern as quickly as I do blogger so there's more over at hill-house.blogspot.com and our flickr site.

I'm curious to see if anyone's even reading this so drop me a line even if it is to say hi. Thanks!
