I had to look back and see when I last updated LM - over a month. Wow - I wish there was more to update with but this darn, stinking, !@#$%^ rain - ugh.. I really shouldn't complain about it. But of all the years that we had this lot and NOW it decides to deluge? Eh... Since May:

• got the piers in, had to case them in considering the pond at the lot but that's okay. This was such a major hurdle, mainly again because of the weather, but at least there's some structure on the lot. You can't see it and you wouldn't know it if you just walked by, but gosh darn it, it's there
• we have POWER - ok, it's a t-pole
• plumbers came in and did the rough-ins, then we got red-tagged. Why? Because it was wet and they couldn't inspect. Oh, okay. Then it wasn't so wet and we got a green tag. Hurray for bureaucracy!
• because of the topography of the lot, the plumbing came in lower than the existing sewer tap. So there goes another $3000 to get a new tap put in. The alternative is to use a sump pump but, hmm.. having the possibility of the pump failing is worth putting up the money to get the new tap in the first place.
• C and his guys are building a mock-up window frame in the shop for now. These will go along the one wall for the bedrooms downstairs.
• For the bathroom upstairs, one of the guys constructed the sink by gluing scraps of massaranduba together and the sculptor next door carved a bowl out of it. Next, sand and seal. I think it looks pretty sweet. Anyone have any suggestions on what to seal it with?

The very tentative plan is to get the slab in by the end of the month. I know it's still the first week of the month but with this weather, can't really plan for anything. Rain - the running gag.
