A neighborhood populated by modern houses co-stars in the new animated feature.

The new full length animated feature, The Incredibles, released by Pixar on November 5th is set in a residential neighborhood of modern houses. The homes depicted in the computer animated film are of a variety of configurations reminiscent of modern ranch homes from the 50s and 60s such as the Eichler Homes of souther California where the film makers are headquartered. Interiors rendered in many scenes show modern finishes and furnishings such as a kitchen featuring countertop to ceiling glass and a frameless corner window. The cabinetry in this same kitchen features a sleek look with the front fascia sloping in away from the counter edge.

This represents yet another presentation of modern design in an element of current popular culture. Along with much current advertising featuring modernism the message that is consistently given is that modern design is part of a desirable lifestyle.
