Vermont Plat House - nearing completion
Editorial Rating:
While we've had our heads down working, the Vermont Plat House has been making time. Estimated completion is 4 weeks. Many loose ends coming together now, but you can get a very good sense of the completed house.

Here is the entry side of the house. The metal fascia above the vestibule, and the vestibule itself is not done, but the rest of the exterior is complete. The windows are Eagle, aluminum clad wood with an anodized finish.
The owners choices have been very nice. The house definitely feels 2007, yet the characteristics of the house that evoke mid century have been played up successfully.

Here is the interior gallery hallway. Concrete floors, and horizontal drywall trims all of the owners work.

This is the summer dining room just off the main living space.

And a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms.

answers to questions
Sorry this went un-noticed for so long. There is no email notification of comments.
The concrete floors are a slab on grade, but they are separated from the foundation wall by a layer of insulation board. This is a measure to control heat loss through the edge of the slab. Keep in mind that this house has radiant heat in the slab as well.
The horizontal drywall - I imagine what you really want to know about are the trim pieces. These are extruded aluminum reveals that are set into the drywall, and the edges are finished with ordinary joint compound. There are several manufacturers of this kind of trim, Pittcon being the first that comes to my mind.

Greg,
We're exploring how to enable email notification of comments to blog entries. It should not be hard. I would assume we can have it done in June but first we'll be doing a general software upgrade for the site. Stay tuned...

That would be awesome Marshall. I can kick myself when I miss a comment.
the more there are...
...the harder it is to keep track.
Email notifications for blog comments are just one improvement we will implement over the next few months.
After only a couple of months, it's clear that advertising is working so we will invest to keep the site growing.

Also, can you elaborate on the horizontal drywall? How is it finished?
