The journey of building a home in Salt Lake City, Utah

Lets just get you up to speed on whats happening in our building of a dream.

April 2006- A site has been choosen. A flat acre of pasture in Holladay, Utah.

June 2006- April 2006- Looking for an architect and meet with four different people.

April 2007- Survey coming along nicely.

May 2007- A full year later. Signed our contract and we've committed to building now. Scott Hinton, owner of HSpaceDB seems to share our vision for the Pasture Project, and be as passionate about building something beautiful and green as we are.

June 2007- Our first meeting with the HSpaceDB guys. What do we want and what will probably make the budget.

July 2007- Our first look at design directions. Here are the candidates.

Without any photos of your property, it's kinda hard to tall, but I suspect that Scheme 2 would fit in just about anywhere in Utah.

Hope it's not too smokey there!

Favorite style?

They are all very nice IMO, so the decision will have to come from other factors (siting, views, circulation, etc.). What I think is so nice about our current modern period is the diversity. Scheme 1 makes me think of Corbusier and Schindler, scheme 2 is very Rick Joy and 3 seems Post-Modern to me (in a good way). Are there floor plans that go along with any of these?
