Today is the first day of actual construction. We still don't have our local permits or the State's for that matter.

The Factory Started Today

Framing for our house has begun. I wasn't sure if it would happen as planned since I didn't hear anything about the CA state approvals. The factory called the state engineer yesterday and asked if they could begin anyway. He allowed them to start construction because we had only three minor corrections. Very soon we'll get the date of completion. Sometime ago, we were told that construction on our house would possibly take 5-7 weeks.

That sounds great but the problem is that we don't yet have our local permits and we may not have enough time to have the foundation ready.

Despite the permitting problems, I should mention that David and I are extremely excited and happy that our house is being started. We cannot wait to see the first images of our home. I didn't sleep much last night; instead, I imagined what the framing will look like in its first stages.

Permitting

The state approval is holding everything up. The Grading & Drainage engineer won't move until the Building & Safety approval is in and the Building & Safety engineer won't move until the state approval is in.

The fire department is supposed to complete our resubmittal by the end of this week. We resubmitted our Fuel Modification only this Monday. The changes for the Fuel Modification Dept. were very detailed and it took us some time to put everything together. The plan checker at the Fuel Modification Dept. seemed to think it wouldn't take too long to check the resubmittal.

Money issues will have to be resolved within the week or so. We are finding that we have more options but it still is agonizing waiting for everything to come together solidly.

On a brighter note, we should have some photos to post very soon. We were supposed to get some today but I don't think they had time for it considering it's Friday and we asked at the last minute. I'm sure we're just in the earliest stage of framing, with the floor.

Congratulations!

I'm so happy for your successes, despite the downturns of the past few weeks since we visited. In the end it will be a huge success
you are doing everything to guarantee that. Enjoy the excitement of your house being built :) Nicole
