November 4, 2004 We closed escrow
Editorial Rating:
The deed was recorded about an hour ago. It feels anticlimactic probably because we have a lot of work ahead of us and because we've been distracted by current events over the last few days. Now we'll need to finalize our timeline so we'll know we're on schedule and so we can plan for construction draws (in other words, money).
We still have unanswered questions about the foundation: Will our local building authority approve it? and How much will it cost? We really like the look of the foundation and also that it takes a day or two to install. I have to get on top of these items tomorrow before we start the more detailed aspects of engineering the house.
The good news is that the modular home company seems to be on the ball. When they sent the first draft of the shop drawings (revised drawings of Greg's design) there were a number of items that needed to be corrected. I thought I would be able to handle it on my own, but I quickly realized I was out of my element. I contacted Gregory La Vardera to make the revisions; all I can say is that I'm glad I didn't do it myself, it would have been disasterous! I sent the revision to them early this morning and they're almost done with the second draft!
Above is a small image of the first draft with the revisions.
