We interviewed the first of three builders today.
I found him because his sign was up in front of a modern house (in stucco and cedar!) in Dallas. The fact that it was probably an $800,000 house gave me some pause, but at least the guy wouldn't be scared of a modern design with a few modern details and materials, right? As we met to discuss the project, it didn't bother me too much that he had not heard of Ikea (the closest one is 275 miles away). However, when he said, "I hadn't known you could put bamboo on the floors." I began to wonder if we had the right guy. He did seem thoughtful and clealy knew his business, but he later saind that the house I had seen was his firt modern one.
