The future has arrived. Mobile Living is at the forefront of design. Hybrid solutions to all areas of our lives are exploding into the marketplace. We are exploring the relationship between the basic human requirements of travel and shelter, leisure and communication. Our ever increasing need to be in touch, stay in touch, work from wherever we are, has inspired new technology making our computers and our phones are the tools that drive our new economy and support this nomadic way of life. Cars, airplanes, and hotel rooms have become our homes and offices with many of us spending more hours there than in the actual spaces we own or lease. This exhibition features mobile living tools for tomorrows generation of nomadic wanderers. Seen for the first time in one space, vintage future inventions like a full-scale Buckminster Fuller Fly’s Eye Dome, the last design from the “Great Brain”, to Adam Kalkin’s Push-Button House, an art meets design piece shown at Miami Art Basel. Project cars from Toyota and Scion, Jennifer Siegal’s Portable House, as well as educational elements all presented in a museum style format.
